In response to the dynamic growth of the electronic payment sector in Algeria and the increasing adoption of digital tools by citizens—reflected in the rising number of Edahabia cards (over 13.7 million) and Baridi Mobile users (approximately 4.5 million)—and as part of the government’s roadmap for the development of electronic payments, particularly its awareness component, the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, in collaboration with the Ministry of National Defense, the National Cybersecurity Agency, the National Gendarmerie, the General Directorate of National Security, and Algeria Post, is launching a national awareness campaign on the secure use of the Edahabia card and the Baridi Mobile application, from September 24 to 26, 2024.

Campaign Objectives:
To inform users of Edahabia and Baridi Mobile about preventive recommendations and best practices to avoid scams and fraud, including:

Never sharing personal data (full name, Edahabia card number, PIN, one-time password)

Verifying the download and installation of official applications

Blocking the card and filing a complaint with the appropriate security services in case of fraud or scam

Beyond preventive behavior, the initiative also aims to guide users toward the appropriate mechanisms and institutions where they can report suspicious practices or fraud attempts for effective resolution.

📣 Awareness Activities Nationwide:
To achieve its goals, digital awareness content has been developed, along with a rich program of local events across all provinces, including:

Open house events at major post offices and branches

Awareness activities in universities, especially targeting new baccalaureate holders

SMS alerts sent to all mobile phone subscribers

In parallel, media coverage will include TV and radio segments on national channels, supported by publications and promotional spots shared on social media platforms.
